Hi everyone,
I just sent two files to Joseph to upload and the files are under my name. The names of the files are Martin Del Campo 0906.doc and Jose Vallejo Jimenez. The information is for Jalostotitlan, Jalisco and various surrounding areas.

Thanks for confirming Arturo. The dispensa for Manuel Sanchez de Porras
and Apolonia Martin del Campo is for Sebastiana Apolonia's parents. I have a
copy of that document. I suspect that Sebastiana Apolonia and Juan Ygnacio

Hello,

I have a lookup request for anyone who has Luz Montejano Hilton's book of marriage dispensations.

I want to know if Juan Ygnacio Martin del Campo m. Sebastiana Apolonia Sanchez de Porras on 25 Feb 1754 in San Felipe, Cuquio, Jalisco received a marriage dispensation?

Tomas Alejandro,

Arturo,

You've been explaining the various government entities in Mexico: In the excerpt from the FHC Library Catalog (below) of films available for Valparaiso, Zacatecas, I see OFICIALIA designated for some of the nearby communities. What is meant by "oficialia"?

On my mother's side I am the fourth generation to use the maternal suname.

Because my great grandfather was the product of rape.

Since 1858 our family has been proud to bear the name of the 14 year-old victim of that rape, Maria de las Nieves Porras.

Thanks so much for the information, Arturo. This affirms the need to search maternal names just as carefully. I believ I've read that it wasn't unheard of for a husband to take his wife's maiden surname, if she was the sole heir to land or fortune. Alice Blake
